While Marana won’t be bringing home an All-America City Award, the Town’s four days in Denver was a great learning experience spent with 15 other fantastic communities.
The National Civic League named the 10 All-America Cities on Sunday night in Denver. The winners were Marshall, Texas; Tallahassee, Florida; Geneva, New York; Carson, California; Tupelo, Mississippi; Spokane, Washington; Stockton, California; Somerville, Massachusetts; Yakima, Washington and Salinas, California.
Over the weekend, all 16 finalists made 10-minute presentations highlighting their efforts in improving the lives of young men and vulnerable boys. The Town partnered with Arizona Youth Partnership, the Marana Unified School District and Marana Junior Rodeo to put together its submission.
The competition also included informative workshops and opportunities to interact with some of the best communities in the country. It was time well-spent for everyone who attended.
“Although we didn’t secure an All-America City Award, our Marana team did its best and represented our community well,” said Town Manager Gilbert Davidson. “We are a great community and have so many incredible people who make it a wonderful, safe and caring place to live.”
