The Town has kicked off meetings with representatives from its partner organizations for the All-America City awards competition. The Marana Unified School District, Marana Health Center and the Arizona Youth Partnership are on board to participate in the awards presentation, which will take place in Denver this June 12-14.
The Town is among 16 communities vying for 10 spots on the All-America City list.
Award finalists will deliver 10-minute presentations to the National Civic League jury, whose criteria stresses collaboration among community partners. Previous presentations have run the gamut from performance art pieces to 200-member productions with a marching band introduction. The next step for the Marana team is determining the theme of its presentation and the size of the delegation going to the competition.
The Town was also a finalist in 2008, when the competition was held in Tampa.
