Get ready to offer a warm welcome to a cool summer in Marana. The long-anticipated splash pad is about to go under construction, with an opening scheduled for the hottest time of the year.
The splash pad, which will be located in North Marana near the Gladden Farms community, will measure 4,500 square feet. TRI-Com Corp. from Tempe was awarded the contract to do the work after a competitive bid process revealed four potential contractors.
Since Marana has such a rich agrarian history, it only makes sense for the splash pad to carry a farm theme. Features on the pad will include a tractor, windmill and crops.
A regional attraction, the pad will have no admission fee and will be open to everyone, not just Marana residents. The Town is also paying for restrooms on site.
All amenities are part of the Town’s Heritage River Park, which features a barn, community garden, windmill, water feature and performance stage. The park on Oct. 10 is hosting the Marana Cotton Festival, a celebration of the crop that helped put the Town on the map.
