How much do you really know about Marana? Find out during the Surprising Marana Bus Tour on March 7 and 8.

The tour, hosted by the Marana Heritage Conservancy, takes in sights including lime kilns along Silverbell Road, a bat colony on the Santa Cruz River and the old Borquez Ranch site.

There’s also a little intrigue. What happened to the first plane to be christened Air Force One and what’s the story behind the darker side of Li’l Abner’s Steakhouse? Learn all about it during the tour.

The event is $10 per adult and $5 apiece for children. Payment can be made by cash or check once participants board the bus. Reservations are required and can be made by e-mailing jfsmith@maranaheritage.org or calling 572-5601.

There are two tours per day, leaving at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from the Marana Municipal Complex (11555 West Civic Center Drive). Hop on board and learn more about your community thanks to the Marana Heritage Conservancy.
