NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy and financial literacy website, has recognized the Town of Marana for its high marks in analyses of local homeownership and economic opportunities.
Marana ranked seventh out of 64 places in NerdWallet’s Best Places for Homeownership in Arizona. The median income is $5,977, and 27.8 percent of that income is devoted to homeowner costs. The median home value in Marana is $222,200, and the homeownership rate is 77 percent.
Marana also ranked among NerdWallet’s 20 Cities on the Rise in Arizona. The state continues to be one of the fastest-growing in the country, adding 217,834 residents between July 1, 2010 and July 1, 2013. Marana is keeping pace with this trend, experiencing a 7.6 percent working-age population increase over a three-year period. The city’s No. 16 ranking was supported by its 18.1 percent increase in employment from 2009 to 2012, as well as its 5.3 percent median income growth.
