Remember when we said last week that sleigh racing would cost $75 at the Holiday Festival and Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 6? Scratch that. It’s now free.
Town support of the event means non-profit Bridging Arizona no longer needs to charge teams. All the teams have to do now is put together a holiday theme for their five participants and show up at 2 p.m. for the races half an hour later. The event is happening along Marana Main Street on the west side of the Municipal Complex (11555 W. Civic Center Drive). Civic groups and other organizations are encouraged to challenge others in their field to a race.
Bed racing was a fun and exciting part of the Marana Main Street Festival the past two years. That event was replaced by the Marana Harvest Festival, which was held in conjunction with Gladden Farms last month and drew more than 3,000 attendees.
Bridging Arizona, headquartered in Mesa, provides quality furniture to clients of its participating agencies. In the past 10 years, it has distributed more than 225,000 items to families in need.
