Rainy roundup

Seen enough rain for a day? Us, too.

After numerous road closures this morning and early afternoon, things are getting back to normal in Marana. While some roadways are seeing localized flooding, the only one that’s closed is Twin Peaks between Sanders and Sandario. An estimated four feet of water collected there, enough to close any road.

The San Lucas Community Park is also shut down for the time being.

We’re faring much better than our neighbors to the north. Westbound Interstate 10 in Phoenix, closed since early this morning because of flooding after record rainfall, has partially reopened, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Eastbound lanes remain closed but are expected to open by early evening.

The freeway closed shortly before 4 a.m. after heavy rain fell across the Phoenix area, flooding the roadway. A record 3.29 inches of rain fell at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport today, according to the National Weather Service.
