The Wings of Freedom Tour is touching down at the Marana Regional Airport this weekend for three days of education about World War II-era aircraft.

Three of the most famous bombers and fighter planes – The B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator and P-51 Mustang – are available for tours and 30-minute flights. Grounds are open Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The planes are brought here by the Collings Foundation, which supports living history events involving transportation.

The aircraft will be on display at the ramp on the airport’s southeast corner. Walk-through tours are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 years and younger. WWII veterans get into the ground tours at no charge. Bomber flights are $450 per person. The majority of the flight cost is tax-deductible.

Call 1-800-568-8924 to reserve a flight experience. The airport is located at 11700 West Avra Valley Road.
