Marana’s own Sherry Cervi added to her legend by taking home her fourth season title in barrel racing during the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas this past weekend. She broke the aggregate record set by Jill Moody in 2010.
“(Winning the aggregate title) is special because getting around these barrels 10 times and being faster than anyone else here is so very, very hard to do,” Cervi told the Associated Press. “I am so proud of my horse and the consistency it takes to accomplish winning the average. I just feel it is an important way to finish what I started when I arrived here.”
Cervi has won more than $300,000 on the rodeo circuit this year. The Marana High School graduate has more than $2 million in career earnings.
