The Marana Rotary Club will recognize the 2013 Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Educator of the Year and Student of the Year at the 3rd Annual Heritage Awards Dinner on Oct. 24 at the Highlands of Dove Mountain Clubhouse. The Town of Marana will hand out its Ora Mae Harn Crystal Legacy and Branding Iron awards.
Many in the Town give generously of their time and talent highlighting the spirit of volunteerism and leadership with significant and positive impacts on the community. Those to be honored this year are: Julee Baxley, founder of High Heels for Hope, Woman of the Year; Dr. Emil Tompkins, a leader in the care of underprivileged youth, Man of the Year; Linda Fox, the Intellectually Disabled Special Education teacher at Marana Middle School, Educator of the Year; and Elijah Barnett, Marana High School Junior who holds a 4.07 GPA and is the President of the Key Club.
