Proper prescription and over-the-counter drug disposal is an emerging environmental issue. As with any household waste, the disposal method chosen can affect safety and the health of the environment.
Residents from across the area turned in 70 pounds of medications this past Saturday at the Town’s Dispose-A-Med event. Our police department teamed with Drug Enforcement Administration, Meth Free Alliance, Fraternal Order of Police, Optimist Club, Northwest Fire District and Pima County Wastewater to hold the event at Target on the corner of Ina and Thornydale.
The Town has hosted these events for the past several years. Members of our Volunteers in Police Service collect the medications.
If you missed this one, the next Dispose-A-Med is May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Target. Watch our website for more information.
